Title: ‘Hortulus animae.’ Comments: The illustration is taken from the 1514 edition. Not sure in which other edition this woodcut has been used. Nigel Roche (2000) states: ‘In at least two books printed at Mainz by Johann Schöffer, a decorated side-piece is seen which depicts a press with puller holding the bar in the lower panel and a beater with two balls in the upper. Between the two hangs a bucket, though I cannot suggest why.’ Technique: Woodcut Publications Helmut Presser (1955) ‘Unbekannte Abbildungen der Buchdruckpresse.’ Archiv für Druck und Papier, 1, pp 29-33.
