Comments:

1. An incomplete reference is provided by Enschedé in 1906. He states: ‘Pers in een onbekende Hoogduitsche kroniek c. 1550. Naar het origineel.’ and provides a footnote: ‘‘Los kwarto blad in bezit van den heer R.W.P. de Vries te Amsterdam. Plat gezet uit augustijn fractuur, regelbreedte 36 augustijnen, 46 regels; marginalien plat gezet zonder uitvulling uit galjard fractuur. Hoofdregel: ‘Wo vnd wann die Truckerey vnd Büchsen erfunden’. Cap. Clix.; reg. 46: Münch/mit nammen Berchthold Schwartz. Custos: Mentz. De persafbeelding schijnt vrij onbeholpen gecopieerd te zijn naar Bade’s merk.” See below.
2. The ‘Cosmographia’ was first published in 1544. Several editions until 1574 included a woodcut illustration of a book with the description about the invention of printing (1544, 1545, 1546, 1548, 1550 (latin), 1564, 1567, 1568 (french), 1569, 1572 (german), 1572 (latin), 1575 (italian), and 1575 (french). The woodcut with the image of the printing press was used in the 1574 (USTC), 1578 (USTC), 1588 (USTC), 1592 (USTC), 1598 (USTC), and 1614 (USTC). The 1628 edition (USTC) has - as far as I know - not been digitised yet.

Below on the left a *reversed* woodcut illustration for Sebastian Münsters’ Cosmographey. On the right Josse Bade’s 1506 version. Especially the press construction is very similar.

A comparison of the illustrations.
