Title: ‘Nova reperta.’ Comments: This engraving is based on a sketch made by Jan van der Straet (Ioan Stradanus) in 1595. The sketch can be seen here. The Metropolitan Museum of Art [Link]: ‘Fourth plate from a print series entitled Nova Reperta (= New Inventions of Modern Times) consisting of a title page and 19 plates, engraved by Jan Collaert I, after Jan van der Straet, called Stradanus, and published by Philips Galle.’ The inscriptions states [source]: ‘4. IMPRESSIO LIBRORVM. Potest vt vna vox capi aure plurima: Linunt ita vna scripta mille paginas.’ (= ‘4. De boekdrukkunst.
